Seeing God Move in Puerto Rico (Part 3)

Here are some stories from the Kevin’s group, who served in Humacao:

Tiffany – One experience where I saw God move was during a prayer walk. We met these two older ladies. The younger lady had been asking God to show her where to go to church, and he sent our group to answer her prayers!

The leader of the local Salvation Army gave her the information for his church and she said her prayer had been answered! This lady was celebrating her 94th birthday, so we sang to her. As we sang, she began to cry. Earlier she had explained to us that she had two granddaughters in the U.S and she’d never spoken with them, although she dearly wants to. Anyways, we hugged her after singing and she told us that when she hugged us, she thought of us as her granddaughters. It brought her so much joy. This really touched my heart.

Ava- Before this trip, I was very low spiritually. When we got here, I was expecting something totally different. I’ve met so many people who didn’t complain at all, even though they were living in poverty. It made me realize how much I take for granted, and that God is with us through the hard times and the good times. God showed me that I am his child and I am loved by him… and he gave me people to show me his great love.

The people here in Puerto Rico will forever be in my heart. And I feel so much more closer to God!

Ashley – The prayer walks and worship times were highlights of this trip. God certainly placed people exactly where they needed to be at the right time. During our prayer walk a young boy continuously circled us on his bike. I began feeling like God was using this young boy to lead us to the people we needed to pray and minister to. Sure enough, the child led us to his home where a family member in his family had a daughter who became so ill she had to be flown to the States for treatment. It was amazing how God showed up and showed out through a small child. We truly have specific purposes no matter our age. The way he uses each of us is so humbling.

Lana – This was my first missions trip to attend and it was honestly ten times better than I would have ever imagined. Help and blessing others is what I intended on doing, but actually it was the other way around. This past week in Puerto Rico has felt like such an amazing peace. God’s presence was truly here and with Adventures in Missions.

Lindsay – God moved in my life last night during chapel. My youth group became closer in so many ways. We all prayed for each other. The Holy Spirit really moved in all of us. I love my youth group and my church. I’m thankful God led me and my family to Vibrant church.

Whitney – Wow! What an adventure! I don’t truly know what I was expecting, but God showed up and showed out!

We had the honor of helping prepare a new site for the Salvation Army in Humacao. Through this experience, we left them with some empty rooms awaiting people for Sunday school and worship, and we left with our cups running over with blessing and joy. Gilberto and his family showed us that God truly provides in every insistence to see his plan fulfilled. I leave Puerto Rico leaving a piece of my heart here, as I carry the people home in my prayers. Thank you for the opportunity to serve and grow on this trip. I can’t wait until the next one!
