A Day in Ponce, Puerto Rico

The second group of us traveled to Ponce today.  We traveled to a homeless shelter first to serve the locals almuerzo (lunch).   Several of them were men and seemed like they enjoyed the meal and company that was around them whether it was us or some of the other locals.  Once we were there, a couple of girls organized the donated clothes at the shelter, others cleaned bathrooms and the main room, and some of us helped to prepare lunch.  We talked to many people to find out their stories.

After we cleaned up the place and lunch had been served, we walked to find our own lunch, and then we did our Ask the Lords (ATLs).

We listened for God’s voice to lead us to locations where there may be people to pray for.  My group found a lady who was new to Puerto Rico and had grown up in Amsterdam and moved to the U.S.  She enjoyed being in all the different places and liked Puerto Rico so far.  The other lady we met was in a local park.  It was hard to talk to her because of the language barrier, but she was where some of our clues from God led us.  Examples were a clock tower, hands and feet, wind, and steps.  Overall, it was a great trip to the city of Ponce and a nice city to be in.
